Why are my heroines Native American? I’m glad you asked. Mark Twain’s wise quote says it best, ‘write what you know’. The heroines in my stories are Native American, because I, too am Native American, from the Lumbee tribe in southern North Carolina.
My desire to become a writer began at a young age, sitting at my grandmother’s feet, hanging onto every word, as she told stories about my family ancestors, my heritage and culture. When I finally decided to pursue my dream, Mark Twain’s quote resonated with me: write what you know.
I invite you to browse my website and check out my blog, Rebecca’s Writing Nook, where I share stories growing up on a family farm and my endeavors as a writer.
