Why are my heroines Native American? I’m glad you asked. I write about Native American women because I’m Native American, from the Lumbee tribe in southern North Carolina.
My desire to become a writer began at a young age, enthralled, as my grandmother told stories about my heritage and culture. When I finally decided to pursue my dream, Mark Twain’s quote resonated with me: write what you know.
